New Chromebooks for Science & Math Department students.

Dreyfoos School of the Arts Foundation (SOAFI) hosted a Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Ceremony for the RJ Foundation and The Scheller Family on Wednesday, March 29th.

The RJ Foundation via Joe & Rita Scheller generously donated $100,000 to supply 266 new chromebooks for the Dreyfoos School of the Arts Science and Math Department students.

Joseph B. Scheller, former president of Silberline Manufacturing Co., is a longtime supporter and advocate for the arts and sciences. He has shown his support as a trustee of a number of institutions, including the Da Vinci Discovery Center of Science and Technology, the Academy of Natural Sciences, and the Allentown Art Museum. Mr. Scheller has also contributed to the arts and sciences himself as a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a published author of two books. His latest project has been supporting the Dreyfoos School of the Arts Science & Math Departments.

Originally encouraged by fellow MIT classmate Alex Dreyfoos of the Class of 1954 to join the board of the Foundation, Mr. Scheller became a board member in 2012 and has been an active supporter ever since.

“Dreyfoos is a special school where the teachers, principal, staff, and Foundation support all students. The school gives opportunities for children of Palm Beach County that would not likely be open to them in the world of high achievement and the Foundation is every bit apart of the magic that supports the students academic achievements,” Mr. Scheller said. “I am honored to continue to serve on the Foundation board, for over 10 years now."
