Jaye Luntz, 2011 Digital Media Alumna

Jaye Luntz, 2011 Digital Media Alumna, is no stranger to fine art, which made her decision to open a photography gallery in Palm Beach featuring rotating exhibits by contemporary photographers a no-brainer. JL Modern Gallery opened its doors in November of 2018 as an expansion of Holden Luntz Gallery, founded in 1999. Designed as a space that encourages a lively photographic discourse, the gallery presents work that addresses current culture and methods of picture taking and printing, from digital to alternative process image making. The gallery is intended to showcase chief international photographers in small group and solo exhibitions and expose significant talent that may not otherwise show in the southern United States.

While attending Dreyfoos, Jaye delved right into all things photography. Her upbringing, being surrounded by fine art photography exhibits on display in her family gallery, she had a natural passion for working in a darkroom, which she says, "gave me the hands-on experience to understand and explain the various mediums within photography." After attending the University of Delaware, where she received a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Art History, Jaye decided to take a position with Christie's in New York, where she handled collector inquiries, sales, and numerous online Auctions. In 2017, she moved back to South Florida to pursue a career as a gallery owner.

Jaye credits Dreyfoos for teaching her discipline, both academically and within her art, with her most considerable influence being former Head of Photography and Visual Arts Dean Peter Stodolak. She found that her years at Dreyfoos taught her the value of experience. In her Senior year, she was one of three students chosen as a photographer for the Visual and Digital Media senior portraits for the senior exhibition. Her advice for current Dreyfoos students "Enjoy it! It may not be until you have distance from the school that you realize just how fortunate you are. Go to every other major's performances and exhibitions. You're surrounded by more talent than you know!"
